Recreation Consultant Wanted!

About the Position

In Örebro, community life is important in many ways. Every day, a variety of community activities take place that contribute to people meeting and creating new relationships and experiences, learning democratic values, and receiving physical stimulation. Örebro municipality has approximately 58 indoor halls of various sizes, 4 ice rinks, 8 artificial turf fields, and about 28 football fields of different sizes. In addition, there are dining halls and accommodation schools. Depending on the season, we may have 200 seasonal applicants to schedule, and we have about 170,000 booked hours per year in our facilities.

We are now looking for an engaged, structured, and driven recreation consultant who, through our booking function, will be responsible for ensuring availability and efficient use of our sports halls and facilities to contribute to health-promoting lifestyles and identities – during free time, based on free choice. By ensuring that the municipality's premises and sports facilities are utilized to the maximum, you can make a significant difference in people's daily lives and promote health, community, and well-being for as many as possible. Your Main Responsibilities

You will primarily coordinate, plan, and schedule the use of sports halls and facilities to maximize availability with the support of our grant and booking system.

Examples of Tasks:

  • book, plan, and allocate times in the municipality's premises, indoor halls, and sports facilities.
  • provide guidance, service, and support to associations and residents booking sports halls and facilities.
  • plan and conduct meetings with associations and other information efforts for larger and smaller groups.
  • collaborate with internal and external parties such as schools, security departments, finance departments, property owners, etc.
  • work with other colleagues within the culture and leisure administration to ensure effective and purposeful use of premises and sports facilities.
  • as a recreation consultant, you may also work on various tasks within the assignment, such as follow-up and maintenance of sports halls and facilities, association grants, and other association support that we work with within the unit.

About the Workplace

The Support, Development, and Collaboration Unit is based in Citypassagen, right next to the Travel Center in central Örebro. A total of 17 people work in the unit, of which nine primarily work with association support issues. Your closest colleagues will be four people who focus on facilities and bookings.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you need to be flexible, secure, and stable as a person and be able to work well with others. You should be calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions, but also able to make decisions that you can clearly explain and justify to the parties involved. Since the work involves a lot of contact with associations, you also need to be an outgoing person who finds it easy to create contacts and maintain relationships. Finally, it is very important that you can plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively, as the expectation is that you as a Recreation Consultant can make good plans for all associations in need of our halls and facilities.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

  • completed upper secondary education
  • driver's license B for manual transmission
  • experience in administrative tasks
  • good knowledge of association activities
  • experience working with the Office package

Desirable:

  • post-secondary education in sports or another field deemed relevant by the employer
  • experience in complex schedule planning with the support of booking or scheduling systems
  • knowledge of sports halls and facilities and their use
  • experience with automated processing
  • experience using AI as part of everyday work
  • experience working in municipal or other public operations

Scope and Start Date

Employment type: permanent position

Employment rate: 100%

Start date: by agreement

Working hours: weekdays during the day. Weekend and evening work may occur.
